Discover the Ellis Maples Legacy

A Course with History, and a Plan to Improve It.

Originally designed in 1961 by famed golf course architect Ellis Maples, Midland Valley Golf Club has long been a staple in the Graniteville golf community. But for a decade, the course and its facilities saw minimal improvements – until new ownership took over in January 2024.

Since acquiring the club, the team has made it their mission to restore MVGC back to its glory. While honoring the original layout and design, they’ve begun an ongoing renovation effort that includes:

Improving turf conditions and bunkering
Upgrading green speeds and surfaces
Modernizing operations and scheduling systems
Launching new offerings like the Horse Creek Tavern (opened April 2024) and new tournaments via Golf Genius
Renovating the Pro Shop and clubhouse facilities

While the work is still in progress, members and guests are already seeing, and feeling, the results on the course.

Course Highlights

Course

18-hole, par 72, 6,870 yards; walkable, tree-lined, and strategic

Hole 1 - Par 4

A challenging start to your round, this #1 handicap hole features a deceptively narrow fairway and an elevated green that slopes sharply from back to front and right to left. Precision is key—aim your approach to the right edge for your best chance at par.

Hole 3 - Par 4

A fun and tempting short par 4 that invites bold play. Long hitters can reach the green from the white tees, but beware—a deep front bunker guards the putting surface. A true risk-reward hole that can set the tone for your round.

Hole 12 - Par 4

One of Midland Valley’s toughest tests. This classic dogleg left demands a well-shaped 3-wood off the tee to navigate the sloping fairway and set up an uphill approach. The large two-tiered green adds drama—miss the correct tier and a bogey is almost guaranteed.

Hole 18 - Par 4

A memorable finishing hole with a scenic elevated tee box that offers a commanding view of the fairway. The green may appear flat, but don’t be fooled—being on the wrong side makes a two-putt a real challenge. A strong close to a great round.

Practice Facilities

In addition to the course itself, MVGC provides a well-equipped practice area to help you sharpen your game:

Full Grass Tee Driving Range
Oversized Putting Green with true-rolling surfaces
Chipping & Pitching Zone with bunkers and tight lies
GHIN Handicap Integration included with membership
